TEMPLATE LETTER:
Minister Delorey,
I am writing to urge the government of Nova Scotia to extend coverage of treatment of Hepatitis C to people incarcerated in the province. I was shocked to learn from a CBC news and web article that this treatment is not provided to prisoners in the Central Nova Correctional Facility in Burnside. Denying treatment for this highly infectious but curable disease is cruel and short-sighted. This is a public health issue that the government of Nova Scotia can readily impact. The government has responsibility to care for the health of incarcerated people.
I hope you will act quickly to remedy this untenable situation. I look forward to your response.
Sincerely,
