Non-profit group calls for public inquiry into death of man at East Coast Forensic Hospital

“A non-profit organization is calling on the health minister to address the recent death of a man at the East Coast Forensic Hospital.

This comes after the Halifax Examiner reports Gregory Hiles was found hanging in his cell last week.

Martha Paynter, chair of Women's Wellness Within, said her organization normally serves criminalized women but they felt compelled to get involved in this case, calling it a brutal injustice that demands answers.

Paynter told The Sheldon MacLeod Show they are now calling for a public inquiry into the matter.
