Wellness Within Extends Support to the Faqiri Family After Inquest Verdict and Echoes Call for Change

The inquest verdict confirmed and validated what the Faqiri family has long known: that the death of Soleiman Faqiri in 2016 at an Ontario jail was a homicide. We at Wellness Within extend our support to the Faqiri family during this time and commend them for their advocacy.

Wellness Within echoes the calls for change made by the jury and implore the Government of Ontario to implement their recommendations. Furthermore, governments from across the country should take into account the recommendations resulting from this inquest — there is a widespread need for change and accountability. We repeat our call that all deaths in custody and public institutions be reviewed; a demand we’ve been making since 2019.
