Wellness Within Repeats Call for Universal Contraception Coverage in NS After Passing of Bill C-64
With Parliament’s adoption of Bill C-64, An Act Respecting Pharmacare, on Oct 10, 2024, Wellness Within is calling on the provincial government to enter into an agreement with the federal government to rapidly implement universal, single-payer, first-dollar coverage for contraception and diabetes medications in Nova Scotia.
Bill C-64 commits the Government of Canada to working collaboratively with provinces and territories towards the step-by-step implementation of national universal pharmacare. Reproductive justice advocates are urging the provincial government to take the next step and sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the federal government to agree on the implementation of the plan.
Wellness Within implores the Government of Nova Scotia show a commitment to accessibility, affordability and reproductive healthcare. There are ample reasons why Nova Scotians should enjoy this benefit.
